I just signed up atthe iTunes store — traditionally walled off for Indians who didn’t have an American credit card.
Apple’s change of heart seems to be driven by the impending official launch of the new iphone in India and other parts of the world that have been deprived of iTunes for so long. The app store is completely accessible. And when you try to access the music store, iTunes tells you that the song you’re asking for isn’t currently available and you’re given the choice to switch stores.
One click later, I’m checking out stuff by the Jonas Brothers, and I’m not dying :). Once I got over the initial excitement, I decided to see if I could find real music — Death Cab For Cutie anyone.
The fringe benefit, I can turn on album cover downloads in the preferences now instead of googling and inserting album artwork to enjoy coverflow.
Did I mention I’ve become a complete Apple fanboy ever since I bought my Mac this week.
