Will this be the most newsy month in 2005?
As I write this Tony Blair is meeting the Queen of England to ask her to dissolve parliament. The BBC journalist reporting first covered an election 40 years ago. England will go to the polls on May 5 and the next few weeks are going to be fairly exciting. Will the co-architect of the Iraq war manage to pull a George W Bush?
While still on England, Charles has had to postpone his wedding .. the marriage is news but the reason for the postponement is bigger.
The pope is dead. He will be buried on Friday. And then a new pope will be elected. I am betting on a Latin American pope. Though, what do you think of an Indian pope?
Syria is pulling out of Lebanon – a country gains freedom.
And there’s the bus. And the explosion and the bombs. I am a little worried now … since I am planning to travel with the bus. Let’s hope I come back in one piece.
